Eugene Mirman, the actor and comedian best known for voicing Gene Belcher in the animated series Bob’s Burgers, was seriously injured in a car crash on Tuesday.

Fiery Crash at Bedford Toll Plaza

The incident occurred just before noon at the Bedford Toll Plaza in New Hampshire. Mirman, 51, of Massachusetts, was driving a northbound electric vehicle when it collided with the toll plaza and immediately caught fire, according to New Hampshire State Police.

Governor's Detail Responds

New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu and her security detail arrived at the scene shortly after the crash. A state trooper and two bystanders bravely pulled Mirman from the burning vehicle through a window, State Police Col. Mark Hall stated.

Lifesaving Efforts

Governor Sununu herself exited her vehicle and retrieved a fire extinguisher, though she was not in any danger. “Without hesitation, they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it,” Col. Hall said.

Mirman's Recovery

Mirman’s agent, Jay Glassner, confirmed the accident in a statement on Wednesday. “Eugene was in a very scary car accident,” Glassner said. “He wants to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders and hospital staff who saved him. He is grateful to be on the mend.”

Glassner also requested privacy for Mirman and his family as he recovers from his injuries. Mirman, originally from Moscow but raised in Massachusetts, has a prolific career including roles in “Flight of the Conchords,” “Delocated,” and “Archer.”

Governor Sununu released a statement thanking the trooper on her security detail and the bystanders for their “brave lifesaving efforts.”
