Bob's Burgers voice actor Eugene Mirman was hospitalized with “serious injuries” following a fiery crash in New Hampshire on Tuesday, March 31st.

Details of the Crash

According to a press release from the New Hampshire State Police, troopers responded to reports of a vehicle colliding with the Bedford Toll Plaza on the F. E. Everett Turnpike around 11:55 a.m.

Mirman’s car caught fire, and he was trapped inside. A veteran state trooper, assigned to Governor Kelly Ayotte’s security detail, happened to drive by the accident and pulled Mirman from the vehicle through a window.

Heroic Rescue Efforts

Governor Ayotte and other witnesses also assisted in pulling Mirman to safety. Colonel Mark B. Hall praised the rescuers, stating, “Certainly, their actions were heroic in what they did. Without hesitation, they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it.”

Mirman's Condition and Statement

A representative for Mirman told People magazine, “Eugene was in a very scary car accident. He wants to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders and hospital staff who saved him.”

The representative added that Mirman “is grateful to be on the mend” and requested privacy for him and his family as he recovers from his injuries. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Governor Ayotte's Response

Governor Ayotte shared her gratitude on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “I want to thank the Trooper on my security detail and the bystanders who stepped up to help at the scene of the crash for their brave lifesaving efforts today. Joe and I are praying for the full recovery of the driver who was injured today.”

The crash is currently under investigation, and no charges have been filed.

Mirman began his career as a stand-up comedian, known for his unique and intellectual style. He has released several comedy specials and albums, including The Absurd Nightclub Comedy of Eugene Mirman and God is a Twelve-Year-Old Boy with Asperger's.

'Bob's Burgers' Career

He is best known for voicing Gene Belcher in the animated series Bob's Burgers, a role he has held since 2011. In a 2017 interview with Vulture, Mirman described the show as “wonderful” and “amazing to be a part of something that families watch together.”

He also noted the show’s ability to be “odd but also really connect with people.” Mirman contributed to The Bob's Burgers Movie, released in 2022.
