The Denver Broncos are optimistic about the progress of rookie quarterback Bo Nix’s rehabilitation from a broken ankle and subsequent surgery. Nix underwent surgery in January, but his recovery has been remarkably smooth and faster than initially projected.
Nix Ahead of Schedule
Head coach Sean Payton confirmed Nix is “ahead of schedule with his rehab” and will be fully cleared for the Broncos’ offseason program. Payton stated simply, “Yes,” when asked if Nix would be ready for the program’s start.
Recovery Details
Nix has already progressed to running and jumping exercises. Sources indicate he’ll be at full capacity when Denver’s offseason program begins on May 4th. The team is “really pleased with his progress and the support from Beau Lowery and everyone.”
Rodgers Rumors Dismissed
Speculation linking veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the Broncos was quickly dismissed as an April Fool’s Day prank. A source told The Denver Post there was a “less than zero percent” chance Rodgers would visit Denver, calling the idea “preposterous.”
Other Broncos News
Beyond Nix’s recovery, the Broncos are also evaluating other roster possibilities. Jonah Elliss may see snaps at inside linebacker, potentially increasing his playing time and creating opportunities for Que Robinson.
Potential Veteran Additions
General Manager George Paton indicated the team remains open to adding veteran free agents on both the offensive and defensive lines, as well as at running back. Players like Calais Campbell and DJ Reader are among those still available.
Draft Preparations Underway
The Broncos are actively preparing for the upcoming NFL Draft, with Payton and Paton beginning in-depth meetings to evaluate potential draft picks. They will focus on positions including tight end, running back, offensive line, and linebacker, but remain open to selecting the best player available.
The team is also monitoring the status of free agent defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, who is recovering from a foot injury. Wilkins has reportedly received interest from 26 teams.
