An immersive Black Mirror Experience is set to launch in Montreal this May, with plans for additional locations to follow. The experience is being produced by Banijay Live Studio, a new subsidiary of the production company behind the hit series, in partnership with virtual reality firm Univrse.

What to Expect from the Experience

Banijay Live Studio describes the experience as an interactive virtual reality event that combines physical space and VR technology. The goal is to “blur the lines of fiction and reality,” placing participants directly into the narrative as the main character. Notably, prior knowledge of the Black Mirror TV show is not required to enjoy the experience.

The LifeAgent and Phaethon

The 60-minute experience takes place in the showroom of Phaethon, a fictional technology company. Players will encounter the LifeAgent, a robotic AI companion designed to anticipate and fulfill its owner’s needs. The LifeAgent performs a full-body scan to understand its owner intimately.

A Familiar Black Mirror Twist

As fans of the series might expect, the LifeAgent’s capabilities extend beyond simple assistance. According to the studio, “once it sees through eyes, it knows exactly how to help… whether asked it to or not.”

Details and Accessibility

The Black Mirror Experience will be hosted at Infinity Experiences in Montreal. It can be enjoyed by individuals or groups of up to six people, and is open to participants aged 12 and above. The experience will be available in French, English, and Spanish.
