The Buffalo Bills are looking to their star quarterback, Josh Allen, to lead when voluntary offseason workouts begin in Orchard Park on April 7th. Offensive coordinator Joe Brady expects Allen to “set the tone” for the team.

Allen's Commitment to the Team

Despite a history of playing through numerous injuries – including to his shoulder, elbow, knee, ankle, hand, and foot over the past five years – Allen is known for his dedication to football. He finished the 2025 season, including two playoff games, while dealing with a foot injury that required minor surgery in January 2026.

Brady on Allen's Expected Attendance

While Organized Team Activities (OTAs) are voluntary, Brady expressed confidence in Allen’s participation. “I’m not sitting in this chair without Josh,” Brady stated. “We’re in this together, and we gotta hold each other accountable. I know how important that is for him to be, especially Day 1…he’s gonna be sitting in that chair, hoping that everybody else will as well.”

Balancing Football and Family

The only potential conflict with Allen’s Day 1 attendance stems from the expected birth of his first child with wife Hailee Steinfeld this spring. The due date was initially anticipated for late March or early April.

Allen on Becoming a Father

Allen acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his availability, stating, “I don’t know if you can plan too far in advance.” He further expressed his excitement about becoming a father, saying, “It’s something that I will take with great pride. We’re going to have to figure things out on the go…this is the most important thing, all over being my life is being a dad.”

Brady Acknowledges Allen's Priorities

Brady understands the demands on Allen’s time, noting his various commitments. “When you’re Josh Allen, you got marketing, you got stuff, now you got family,” Brady said. He added, “I’m understanding of guys might not be able to be there every single day at every single moment. What I know is if Josh can, he will.” Allen was also present at Brady’s introductory press conference in January, demonstrating his role as the face of the franchise.
