James Worthington, a vocal critic of David and Victoria Beckham's luxury Cotswolds estate, has been revealed to reside in Australia, despite presenting himself as a concerned local resident.
Opposition to Beckhams' Estate Plans
Worthington has repeatedly objected to the Beckhams' proposals for their Grade II-listed home in Great Tew, Oxfordshire. He accused the celebrity couple of transforming the rural area into a 'suburbia-style' development reminiscent of Miami or Florida.
Specific Concerns Raised
Among his objections, Worthington questioned the LED lighting plans around a man-made lake at the property, known as Maplewood Barn. He claimed these additions would damage the rural character of the village.
Distance From the UK
Despite his claims of being a local resident, Worthington admitted in objection letters to West Oxfordshire District Council that he had been 'working away from the UK since 2019.' His address was listed as being in Perth, Western Australia, over 9,000 miles away.
Planning Applications
The Beckhams have submitted several planning applications for their estate, which Worthington criticized for being 'drip-fed' rather than part of a comprehensive long-term vision.
