BC Ferries Delays on Key Route Causing Thanksgiving Monday Congestion BC Ferries has announced that multiple sailings on one of its key routes have been delayed due to a mechanical issue with a vessel. This disruption will likely cause congestion and frustration for those using the route on Thanksgiving Day. An issue with a vessel on a major BC Ferries route has caused delays on Thanksgiving Monday, the company said. The 1:15 pm sailing from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay was delayed by 47 minutes due to a mechanical issue with its electrical system, said a service notice from BC Ferries. This delay will have a knock-on effect, delaying the 4 pm sailing out of Departure Bay, the 6:20 pm sailing out of Departure Bay, and the 8:30 pm sailing from Horseshoe Bay. To mitigate this, BC Ferries has advised passengers with reservations on upcoming sailings to arrive within their noted check-in window, maintaining their reserved status. The notice further explains that staging vehicles at the terminal ahead of standby customers and other passengers with later reservations would be ensured. The BC Ferries route has faced issues following a mechanical issue on a different vessel, which earlier resulted in a delay on the Duke Point Tsawwassen route as the company works out the kinks in the system for passengers.
