BB Gun Fired in Salt Lake County Road Rage Incident Leads to Arrest A man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault after allegedly firing a BB gun during a road rage incident in Salt Lake County, shattering a driver's window. No injuries were reported, and authorities are investigating the altercation. An individual has been apprehended in Salt Lake County in connection with a road rage incident that involved the firing of shots. The suspect is facing charges of aggravated assault after allegedly discharging a BB gun, striking a driver's window. Authorities were dispatched to a location in Sandy on Thursday following reports of gunfire during a dispute between motorists. Sergeant Michael Olsen of the Utah Highway Patrol characterized the event as a typical road rage scenario, where an argument between drivers escalated to the point of shots being fired. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The victim stated that while driving, they observed the other motorist brandishing what appeared to be a dark-colored handgun. Subsequently, the victim heard one or two shots and the sound of glass breaking, as detailed in court documents. The victim further reported that the suspect executed a U-turn and fled the scene. Investigators noted that the driver's side window was shattered by the projectiles, leaving an indentation on the B pillar of the driver's door. Surveillance footage from intersection cameras and the victim's dashcam aided investigators in identifying the suspect, who was reportedly involved in a similar road rage incident in West Valley two years prior. The suspect was apprehended at their residence. During questioning, the individual denied any knowledge of the alleged altercation. Law enforcement emphasized the potential for serious bodily harm or death resulting from the discharge of any firearm, including BB guns, at another individual, particularly in the context of operating a motor vehicle. The suspect is currently charged with one second-degree felony count of aggravated assault, along with two class A misdemeanors for reckless driving and improper discharge of a dangerous weapon. All charges carry a road rage enhancement. Separately, a rare tornado has been confirmed in northern Utah, near the border of Cache and Rich counties, following the passage of a powerful storm cell. Additionally, multiple traffic incidents caused significant disruptions on Friday. The southbound lanes of Interstate 15 were completely shut down near 14600 South due to a crash that blocked the two left lanes. Further north, on Interstate 80 near the Tooele-Salt Lake County border, a series of crashes led to road closures and extensive delays. In Millard County, southbound Interstate 15 experienced a closure after a semi-truck overturned and landed on a car approximately 15 miles south of Fillmore. In a separate development, police have released bodycam footage and 911 call recordings pertaining to domestic violence allegations involving Taylor Frankie Paul, a personality from the reality television series Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
