The highly anticipated finalists for the James Beard Awards have been revealed, marking a significant milestone for the region's culinary scene. Out of the initial 24 semifinalists from the Bay Area and Northern California announced back in January, six have successfully advanced in the competition.

These prestigious awards celebrate the leading figures and establishments across the food and beverage industry throughout the United States. The continued success of local chefs and restaurateurs underscores the innovation thriving in Northern California.
Outstanding Restaurateur Nominees
A notable nomination went to the Peninsula team of Srijith Gopinathan and Ayesha Thapar. They are contenders for the coveted Outstanding Restaurateur award.
Gopinathan and Thapar lead the Cal-India Collective, overseeing several acclaimed venues. These include Ettan in Palo Alto, Copra in San Francisco, Eylan in Menlo Park, and Little Blue Door in Los Altos.
California's Best Chef Contenders
The Best Chef category for California also features strong local representation. Sarah Cooper and Alan Hsu from Oakland's Sun Moon Studio are among the finalists.
