A recent affidavit reveals serious allegations against the man accused of opening fire in a Bastrop Home Depot parking lot last week. The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Kobe Lee Mosser, allegedly targeted a vehicle occupied by two children during the incident.

Details of the March 25th Incident

The initial emergency call came in around 3:47 p.m. on March 25, reporting a man actively shooting at vehicles. Dispatchers noted that the suspect briefly returned to his truck before exiting and resuming the gunfire, with shots audible over the phone.

Victim Accounts and Alleged Assault

One victim reported pulling into the parking lot eastbound when she saw Mosser standing outside his truck. According to the affidavit, Mosser allegedly used his driver's side door as a shield while firing a "big/long gun" multiple times at her car.

A second vehicle subsequently struck by gunfire was confirmed to be carrying an adult female passenger and two juveniles in the rear seat. Authorities confirmed that no injuries resulted from the shooting spree.

Suspect Apprehension and Charges

Mosser was taken into custody shortly after the initial reports, around 3:54 p.m. Officer James Hill conducted a felony stop on Mosser's vehicle, where the rifle used in the incident was reportedly discovered in the backseat.

Legal Ramifications and Prior History

The Bastrop Police Department confirmed that Mosser has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of child endangerment. The department stated that further charges are currently under evaluation.

Mosser does possess a prior criminal history, including an arrest in Montgomery County in August 2020 for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). CBS Austin obtained the booking photo from that 2020 arrest, as the department had not yet released his most recent image.

Official Response

Bastrop Police Chief commended the law enforcement response to the event, describing it as "rapid, coordinated, and professional." The Chief also expressed profound gratitude that no individuals sustained injuries during the incident.
