Peoria Crash Claims Juvenile Life
Two-Vehicle Collision on Happy Valley Road
One minor has died, and multiple children are injured following a two-vehicle crash in Peoria on Tuesday afternoon. Police responded to the scene near Happy Valley Road and Lake Pleasant Parkway.
Five minors were in one of the vehicles, with four transported to a hospital with critical injuries. One juvenile was ejected from the vehicle and later pronounced dead at the hospital. The involved minors attended Basis Peoria.
Homicide Investigation Underway in Peoria
Man in Custody After Parents Found Dead
Peoria police are investigating a homicide at a home near 83rd Avenue and Jomax Road. A man called authorities Tuesday evening, stating he had killed his parents.
First responders found the man and his parents at the scene. The parents were pronounced dead, and the man is currently in custody facing charges. Police have stated there is no danger to the public.
Disability Coverage Dispute for Former Sheriff's Employee
Zachary Monticello's Claim Against Pinal County
Zachary Monticello, a former Pinal County Sheriff's Office employee, discovered that the disability coverage he believed he was paying for did not exist. Monticello rejoined the PCSO in 2023.
On July 27, 2024, Monticello was injured in a UTV crash, ultimately losing his right arm. He had previously had long-term disability coverage through the Arizona State Retirement System.
Monticello’s offer letter stated his benefits would continue when he transitioned to the Corrections Officer Retirement Plan. However, he alleges his enrollment packet and pay stubs indicated disability coverage that was not actually in place.
Glendale Woman Dies in SR-51 Crash
Leticia Favazzo Remembered by Friends
Leticia Favazzo, 52, of Glendale, died over the weekend after a crash on SR-51 near Bell Road, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. She was hit while stopped on the highway.
Friends describe Favazzo as a loving mother, wife, and a source of positivity in their lives. “I never saw her without a smile on her face,” said Amanda Flora, a close friend and neighbor.
Favazzo worked at a Mastro’s restaurant for approximately ten years, working her way up from bussing tables. Friends have established a GoFundMe to support her husband and two children.
