Weather Update

Peoria Unified Wrestling Investigation

The Peoria Unified School District (PUSD) is withholding details and documents from its investigation into allegations of sexualized hazing within the Liberty High School wrestling program.

Hazing Allegations and Coach Brenton

Former students and parents first came forward in August 2025 with allegations of hazing and sexual misconduct. PUSD initially investigated in 2024 after reports and videos surfaced, placing head wrestling coach Eric Brenton on administrative leave. Despite public support for Brenton, the district has refused to release the final investigative report when requested by ABC15.

Nancy Guthrie Missing Person Case

Wednesday marked two months since Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie, was reported missing from her home in the Catalina Foothills near Tucson on February 1, 2026.

Investigation Updates

Shortly after her abduction, a ransom demand was received by multiple media outlets. One individual was arrested for allegedly making a false ransom demand. The FBI released surveillance footage on February 9th showing a masked man attempting to enter Guthrie’s home and covering a doorbell camera. Two individuals were briefly detained but later cleared. Tips in the case have since slowed.

NASA Launches Artemis II Moon Mission

NASA successfully launched Artemis II on Wednesday, sending four astronauts on a mission to orbit the moon – farther than any human has traveled before.

Mission Details

The launch proceeded as planned, with the rocket’s stages separating on schedule. The spacecraft is currently orbiting Earth and preparing for its trajectory toward the moon. Mission Commander Reid Wiseman reported a “beautiful moonrise” and confirmed they are “headed right at it.” The crew includes Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen. According to Lakiesha Hawkins, acting deputy associate administrator for NASA’s Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate, the mission has several key objectives.

Arizona mail voters now have new options in 2026 designed to expedite election results.

New State Law

A new state law allows voters who drop off their mail ballots at voter centers on Election Day to have their ballots tabulated immediately, bypassing the signature verification process. Key dates for the 2026 Arizona primary include a June 22 voter registration deadline, early voting beginning June 24, a July 10 deadline for mail ballot requests, a July 14 mail ballot return deadline, and Election Day on July 21.
