Artemis 2 Rollout Imminent

NASA is preparing for a historic event: the rollout of the Artemis 2 rocket. This mission will carry four astronauts to the moon, marking the first crewed lunar flight in over 50 years.

Rollout Schedule and Location

The Artemis 2 rocket, NASA’s second Space Launch System (SLS) booster, is scheduled to depart the Vehicle Assembly Building and head to Launch Pad 39B at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Saturday, January 17th, at 7:00 a.m. EST. The journey to the launch pad is expected to take several hours, given the rocket’s immense size – 322 feet tall.

Live Coverage and Press Conference

Space.com’s Josh Dinner is reporting live from the Kennedy Space Center, providing on-the-ground insights into the rollout process. Prior to the rollout, NASA will host a press conference today, January 16th, at 12:00 p.m. EST to discuss the Artemis 2 rollout and the mission’s objectives.

Press Conference Details

The press conference will cover plans for the February 6th launch of the 10-day Artemis 2 mission, which will send the spacecraft on a trajectory around the moon. A live stream of the press conference is available to view.
