Antony Starr, known for his role in the hit series The Boys, has recently addressed speculation linking him to the Resident Evil film franchise. The New Zealand actor discussed the possibility of taking on the role of one of the horror video game series' most notorious antagonists.
Starr's Initial Reaction to Potential Role Offer
When asked about agreeing to potentially play the nefarious virologist Albert Wesker, Starr explained his default professional response. He noted that actors in New Zealand often accept opportunities due to limited local work.
“I’m an actor from New Zealand, and if people ask you about a job, you go, ‘Yeah!’ because there are not many jobs in New Zealand…So I’m trained into thinking, ‘Someone said ‘you wanna …?’ Yeah, I want that! What is it?’” Starr stated.
Clarifying His Current Stance on Wesker
Despite his initial openness, Starr revealed his actual perspective on joining the horror video game adaptation. He believes the connection fans make is tenuous at best.
“People keep bringing this up, and I think the only thing I have in common is blonde hair, which I’ve gotten rid of, as you can see,” Starr explained. He added, “I think you’ll probably need someone younger. I’m 50.”
Who is Albert Wesker?
Albert Wesker is a classic antagonist from the Resident Evil universe. The character first appeared in the original Resident Evil game, which launched in 1996 on the original PlayStation.
Wesker has remained a central figure throughout the beloved video game series. His role often involves acting as a double agent while orchestrating global outbreaks of zombies.
Notably, Albert Wesker shares a striking visual resemblance to Antony Starr’s character, Homelander, particularly regarding his blonde hair.
Upcoming Projects for Antony Starr
Fans can look forward to seeing Antony Starr return as Homelander soon. The highly anticipated The Boys Season 5 is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on April 8, 2026.
