A significant product recall has been issued for multiple power strips previously available for purchase on Amazon. The manufacturer, Middle Way Electronics, initiated the recall after discovering potential fire risks associated with their devices.

Urgent Safety Alert: CCCEI Power Strip Recall

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall, urging all customers who purchased the affected units to return them immediately for a complete refund. This action follows concerning reports received by the manufacturer.

Details of the Fire Hazard Incidents

Middle Way Electronics learned of two separate incidents where their CCCEI-branded power strips exhibited dangerous behavior. Specifically, the units reportedly started sparking and subsequently melted. The CPSC emphasized that while no injuries or actual fires have been reported to date, the potential for serious injury or fatality remains a serious concern.

Affected Products and Sales Period

The CPSC recall notice specified that the affected CCCEI power strips were sold exclusively through Amazon. These products were available to consumers between April 2024 and January 2026.

Approximately 5,500 units were sold in total, retailing at prices ranging from $23 to $30. The recall encompasses the 6-foot, 10-foot, and 15-foot versions of the power strips.

Product Identification Features

The power strips in question are characterized by a black metal enclosure. Each unit features six outlets, with an individual on/off switch provided for every plug-in spot.

A white label affixed to the back of the device contains specific cautionary text. This label reads: "Relocatable Power Taps. Caution keep children away. To reduce the risk of electric shock, use only indoors, risk of electrical shock. Do not plug into another relocatable power taps or an extension cord. Use only in dry location. Made in China".
