Two members of the Alabama Crimson Tide women’s basketball team are planning to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Guards Collins and Jones will be seeking new opportunities, becoming the third and fourth players to depart the program.
Players Announce Transfer Plans
Joining Collins and Jones in seeking new teams are freshman forward Joy Egbuna and redshirt sophomore forward Reychel Douglas. The destinations for these four players remain currently unknown.
Collins' Performance
Collins started in all 33 games for Alabama this season, averaging 8.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.0 steals in 28.1 minutes per game. The junior previously played at Ohio State for her freshman year before spending the last two seasons with the Crimson Tide.
Collins recorded 11 double-digit scoring performances throughout the season, including a streak of five consecutive games between December 17th and January 8th. She achieved a career-high of 20 points against Jackson State on December 14th and a personal best of eight rebounds against Troy on December 21st.
Jones' Contributions
Jones appeared in 31 of Alabama’s 33 games, making 13 starts. She averaged 4.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks in 16.6 minutes per game.
The redshirt sophomore was granted a medical redshirt after missing the 2024-25 season due to an ACL injury. Jones posted a career-high 15 points against Jackson State and grabbed 11 rebounds against Tennessee on January 18th. She led the team in blocks with 61 and offensive rebounds with 58.
