Ford Celebrates Three Decades of the Expedition with Special Edition
Ford is commemorating the 30th anniversary of its full-size SUV, the Expedition, with the introduction of a new appearance package for the 2027 model year. This special edition honors the nameplate, which first debuted for the 1997 model year.
The 2027 Ford Expedition 30th Anniversary Appearance package introduces distinctive visual elements both inside and outside the vehicle. These upgrades serve to mark this significant milestone for the popular SUV.
Exclusive Design Elements and Color Palette
A standout feature of this anniversary package is the availability of the striking Blue Ember metallic paint. This color was previously exclusive to the high-performance Mustang Dark Horse model.
The package builds upon the Expedition Platinum trim, specifically incorporating the features found in the Stealth Appearance package. However, it deviates by offering lighter interior upholstery, specifically the Salt Crystal Gray, contrasting with the typically dark interior of the standard Stealth pack.
Unique Badging and Standard Features
Commemorative badging is integrated throughout the vehicle to highlight the anniversary. Owners will find a special badge on the rear tailgate and door sills.
Furthermore, the center console features an embossed logo celebrating the three decades of the Expedition. Standard equipment includes massive 22-inch wheels finished in a unique dark color.
These large wheels are further distinguished by center caps that feature a specific '30 Years' emblem.
Powertrain and Anticipated Pricing
The 30th Anniversary package comes standard with the Expedition’s robust powertrain. This includes the 400-horsepower twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 engine paired with all-wheel drive.
While Ford has not yet announced the official cost for this package, estimates suggest a significant premium over the standard Platinum trim. Last year's Expedition Platinum with the Stealth Appearance package was priced at $80,620.
Given the added exclusive features, it is anticipated that the 2027 anniversary model will carry a price tag well exceeding $80,000.
Expedition's Legacy in the SUV Market
The current model represents the fifth generation of the Ford Expedition. Its introduction in 1997 marked Ford's initial serious entry into the three-row, full-size SUV segment.
Although it faces strong competition from GM's offerings like the Tahoe and Suburban, the Expedition maintains solid sales figures. The model achieved sales of 85,921 units in 2025.
