London, England – Seth Scott and Oliver Jenks have officially entered the Guinness World Records by completing a remarkable journey from London, England to Cape Town, South Africa in a three-wheeled Reliant Robin, affectionately named Sheila.
The Unconventional Journey Begins
The idea for this ambitious trip originated with Seth Scott seven years ago. Inspired by their participation in the 2018 Mongol Rally, a charity driving adventure, Scott envisioned a significant challenge using an unconventional vehicle. The Reliant Robin, often the subject of ridicule, became the symbol of their underdog story.
Overcoming Obstacles Across Africa
The adventure commenced on October 24, 2025, and was meticulously documented on social media. Spanning approximately 25,000 kilometers across 22 countries, the journey was fraught with mechanical difficulties. What was initially planned as a three-month trip extended to four months due to numerous setbacks.
The pair faced significant mechanical failures, including a transmission failure in Ghana, an engine blowout in Cameroon, and an axle failure in Congo. Each incident required lengthy waits for parts and highlighted the crucial role of their online community in providing support.
A Charity Drive and Community Support
Beyond the record attempt, Scott and Jenks used their journey to raise funds for the School in a Bag charity. They successfully raised approximately $24,000 CAD, providing essential school supplies and hygiene items to vulnerable children around the world.
The opportunity to personally distribute these bags along their route added a deeply meaningful dimension to their adventure. Their online community proved invaluable, not only in overcoming logistical hurdles but also in amplifying their fundraising efforts.
Looking Ahead
Scott and Jenks are now preparing the necessary documentation for official Guinness World Records verification. They are also considering future adventures with Sheila, potentially including trips to Kenya, other parts of Africa, and even a return to the UK. Their story demonstrates the power of perseverance, community, and turning a whimsical idea into a impactful reality.
