BlackBerry Ltd. reported a profitable fourth quarter, marking a significant turnaround from losses experienced in the prior year. The Waterloo, Ontario-based company, reporting in U.S. dollars, achieved a profit of US$24.3 million for the quarter ending February 28th.
Financial Performance Highlights
This result contrasts sharply with the US$7.4 million loss reported during the same quarter last year. The positive performance equates to four cents US per diluted share, an improvement over the one-cent US loss per share from the previous year.
Adjusted Earnings and Revenue
BlackBerry’s adjusted earnings also showed positive momentum, reaching six cents US per share, up from three cents US per share in the year-ago period. Fourth quarter revenue increased to US$156.0 million, compared to US$141.7 million in the same period a year earlier.
Looking Ahead: 2027 Financial Year Outlook
The company anticipates continued growth, albeit at a moderated pace. BlackBerry projects total revenue between US$132 million and US$140 million for the first quarter of its 2027 financial year.
Full Year Projections
For the entire 2027 financial year, the company forecasts total revenue between US$584 million and US$611 million. These projections reflect a cautious yet optimistic outlook, acknowledging the competitive market landscape and the need for strategic planning.
