Kentucky forward Mo Dioubate has announced his intention to enter the NCAA transfer portal, effective with its opening on Tuesday. The move comes after one season with the Wildcats, following two seasons at Alabama.

Dioubate's Role with the Wildcats

Dioubate’s role with Kentucky evolved throughout the season, beginning as a starter before transitioning to a key player off the bench. This demonstrated his adaptability and the coaching staff’s strategic adjustments. Coach Pope clearly valued his contributions to the team.

Key Performances and Impact

During the 2023-2024 season, Dioubate averaged 8.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game. He also contributed 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals on the defensive end.

His most notable performance came against Texas A&M in March, where he recorded 19 points and 17 rebounds. He reached double-figure scoring in 11 games, including two games with 20+ points.

Coach Pope's Praise

Following Kentucky’s final win of the season against Santa Clara in the NCAA Tournament, Coach Pope highlighted Dioubate’s importance. He stated that Dioubate was, “in many ways, the defensive emotional heart and soul of our group,” and that the team performed well when he was at his best.

Looking Ahead

Dioubate will now seek a larger role in his senior year at a new program. Kentucky will utilize the transfer portal to find a player to fill the void in the frontcourt. The team will be looking for players who can contribute at a similar level.
