Skiers and snowboarders at Hilltop Ski Area in Anchorage experienced a unique treat on Sunday: a special Easter egg hunt with over 1,000 eggs hidden throughout the trails.
Festive Hunt on the Slopes
The event added an extra layer of excitement to the end of the ski season, creating a memorable experience for the local community. Long lines formed as participants, many with bags and baskets, eagerly awaited their turn to search for the hidden treasures.
Strategies for Success
Participants employed various strategies to maximize their chances of finding eggs. One skier, with a full basket, explained they carefully observed the lift to anticipate egg placement. Another opted for less-traveled paths, hoping to avoid competition.
Golden Egg Excitement
The highlight for many were three oversized golden eggs, concealed amongst the standard plastic eggs. Each golden egg contained a miniature Easter basket and a waiver redeemable for prizes, including season passes to Hilltop Ski Area.
One lucky finder described spotting a “glint of gold” in a “cute little grassy patch,” initially questioning their eyes before confirming their discovery. This serendipitous find underscored the event’s success in fostering community and excitement.
A Season Finale
According to Hilltop General Manager Trevor Bird, the Easter egg hunt served as a “fun wrap-up for our season.” With only one week of regular operations remaining, followed by weekend-only park access, the event marked the transition to the bike season.
Bird emphasized the importance of creating a positive and memorable experience for the community. The event highlighted Hilltop Ski Area’s ability to offer engaging experiences and strengthen its relationship with patrons.
