Ducks Eliminate Oilers in Game 6

The Anaheim Ducks achieved a stunning upset, defeating the Edmonton Oilers 5-2 in Game 6 of their first-round playoff series. This victory marks the Ducks’ first playoff series win since 2017.

Key Performances Lead Ducks to Victory

Leo Carlsson, Troy Terry, and Chris Kreider each recorded a goal and two assists for the Ducks. Cutter Gauthier added a goal and an assist, while Ryan Poehling opened the scoring.

Lukas Dostal was crucial in net, making 25 saves to secure the win. The game was played in front of a sold-out and enthusiastic crowd in Anaheim, California.

Oilers Struggle and Face Early Exit

The Edmonton Oilers, two-time defending Western Conference champions, were unable to overcome the Ducks’ relentless pressure. Connor Murphy and Vasily Podkolzin scored for Edmonton, but it wasn’t enough.

This marks the Oilers’ first first-round elimination since 2021, following their worst regular season since that same year. Connor McDavid acknowledged the team’s shortcomings, stating they were “just average” and lacked consistency.

Ducks’ Resilience and Promising Future

Despite having 14 players making their postseason debuts, the Ducks displayed composure and resilience, winning four of the last five games. Leo Carlsson and defenseman Jackson LaCombe were standout performers.

Coach Joel Quenneville praised the team’s performance, calling it their best game of the series. The Ducks will now advance to face the winner of the Vegas Golden Knights and Utah Mammoth series, with Vegas currently leading 3-2.
