Member's Nazi Salute Sparks Outrage
Restore Britain, a hard-right party, has sparked controversy after reinstating a member who was suspended for making a Hitler salte. The decision has drawn criticism from both supporters and opponents of the party.
The member, James Munro, was initially suspended after an investigation by Hope Not Hate revealed he had been pictured with a neo-fascist flag and maikng the salute less than a decade ago. However, Restore Britain later reinstated Munro, with him confirming he would continue as a member and activist.
Party's Growing Criticism and Extremist Ties
Restore Britain has been facing growing criticism for its links to extremist groups and individuals. The party hit headlines this week after a poll suggested it could split the vote in the Makerfield by-election, potentially handing a win to Labour's Andy Burnham.
The Daily Mail published an exposé revealing Restore Britain's links to extremists, including Steve Laws who has called for the removal of Jews from Britain. The party has repeatedly failed to condemn or distance itself from Laws. Additionally, senior party officials have shared platforms with other extremists, such as Martin Sellner,a far-right Austrian activist banned from the UK.
Jewish Leadership Council's Warning
The Jewish Leadership Council has issued a warning about Restore Britain , branding its rise 'deeply worrying.' Russell Langer, the council's director of public affairs, told the Mail that the party has become a 'home for those linked to vile neo-Nazi groups.'
In response,a Restore Britain spokesman dismissed the criticism as a 'desperate attack' by the 'establishment media' and expressed willingness to discuss their policies.
