The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC’s TODAY show host Savannah Guthrie, has taken a disturbing turn with the emergence of ransom notes claiming she is deceased.
Ransom Notes Received
TMZ reported receiving two new purported ransom notes related to the case. These notes, allegedly from the same individual who initially demanded Bitcoin, suggest knowledge of Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts and those involved in her disappearance.
Details from the Notes
The notes claim to possess critical details, including the location of her body and the identity of her alleged kidnapper, while demanding a ransom payment in cryptocurrency. One note stated: “I know where her body is, and who the kidnapper is, give me half a bitcoin and I’ll tell you.”
Another note claimed: “I saw her alive with the in the state of Sonora Mexico.” The author demands a total of half a Bitcoin, with the second half promised upon a public arrest related to the case.
Investigation Intensifies
The situation has intensified the search for Ms. Guthrie, who went missing from her Tucson, Arizona home on February 1st. Law enforcement, including the FBI, is now involved, but the case remains unresolved.
According to TMZ, the alleged author of the notes has indicated they have been attempting to provide this information since February 11th, claiming “millions have been wasted.” They also suggest being outside the United States for over five years, seeking anonymity.
Timing and Emotional Toll
The release of these developments coincides with Savannah Guthrie's return to the TODAY show, adding emotional complexity to the case. The public attention surrounding the case has been intense.
While the validity of the ransom notes remains unconfirmed, law enforcement is pursuing these leads, underscoring the urgency of resolving the case and finding answers for Ms. Guthrie’s family.
