Hundreds gathered on Primrose Hill, including Suggs of Madness and other prominent musicians, to mourn the loss of 21-year-old Finbar Sullivan, a filmmaking student who was fatally stabbed in north London.

Vigil Held on Primrose Hill

A moving vigil was held on Sunday evening to remember Finbar Sullivan, tragically killed on April 7th. The event celebrated his life and called for unity and peace within the community.

Music Industry Pays Respects

The vigil drew significant attendance from the music industry. Graham ‘Suggs’ McPherson of Madness, Paul Weller of The Jam, Kevin Rowland of Dexys Midnight Runners, Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream, and Glen Matlock of The Sex Pistols were among those who came to pay their respects.

Suggs performed the song ‘It Must Be Love’ during the vigil, and balloons were released as a tribute to Finbar’s life.

Remembering Finbar Sullivan

The scene was filled with candles, flowers, and photographs of Finbar, affectionately known as Fin or Sully. He was a student at the London Screen Academy with a strong passion for filmmaking.

Finbar’s inspiration came from his grandfather, Michael Seresin, a renowned cameraman who worked on films such as ‘Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban’ and ‘Rambo III’.

Father's Emotional Tribute

Finbar’s father, Chris Sullivan, a club promoter and founder of the Wag Club, spoke movingly about his son’s infectious personality and the unity the vigil represented. He emphasized that Finbar’s legacy should be one of unity, love, and peace.

“It feels like having limbs amputated,” Mr. Sullivan said, describing the pain of losing his son.

Circumstances of the Tragedy

Finbar also worked as a music video producer under the name Sully Shot It, creating content for drill rap artists. He had recently received a new camera as a 21st birthday gift and went to Primrose Hill to test it out, intending to meet a friend, AJ, who was visiting from university.

Police responded to reports of a fight around 6:41 pm. Finbar sustained multiple stab wounds, including a fatal injury to his leg. AJ was also injured, believed to be while attempting to protect his friend.

Mr. Sullivan described his son as a ‘middle-class kid with long hair’ and stated the motive for the attack remains unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
