H-E-B, in collaboration with Operation Shower and the San Antonio Spurs, will host a baby shower for 55 expectant mothers with ties to the military on May 6th. The event aims to honor and support these mothers and their families for their dedication and sacrifice.
Celebrating Military Families
The baby shower, part of H-E-B’s Operation Appreciation program, will take place from noon to 2 p.m. at the River Bend Pavilion within TPC San Antonio, located at 23808 Resort Parkway, San Antonio, TX 78261. It is designed to recognize active-duty service members and the spouses and partners of deployed military personnel from local bases.
A Collaborative Celebration
This year’s event, themed “A Mother’s Love,” will be emceed by Ashley Behabetz and Zay Zay Aquino, beloved hosts from the San Antonio Spurs. Their participation adds to the celebratory atmosphere of the event.
Milestone Event for H-E-B and Operation Shower
This baby shower marks a significant milestone, representing the 20th sponsored by H-E-B and the 250th group baby shower organized by Operation Shower since 2007. The event acknowledges the unique challenges faced by military families, especially during deployments.
Supporting Military Spouses
LeAnn Morrissey, Founder and Chief Shower Officer of Operation Shower, emphasized the emotional and practical burdens carried by military spouses during pregnancy. She noted that while service members are deployed, their partners manage households, finances, and emotional strain while preparing for a new child.
Operation Shower's Mission
Operation Shower was founded on the belief that pregnancy should be a joyful experience, free from isolation and anxiety. The partnership with H-E-B is vital in providing both essential supplies and a sense of community to these mothers.
Event Details and Gifts
The celebration will include a catered lunch, shower games with prizes, and generous gift giveaways. Each expectant mother will receive an Operation Shower “Shower-In-A-Box,” filled with gifts and essential items for both mother and baby.
These boxes are made possible by donations from H-E-B, Diaper Genie, Angelcare, Delta Children, Joie Baby, Natural Life, and the San Antonio Spurs. The event aims to foster connection and camaraderie among the mothers.
Recognizing Sacrifice and Resilience
This early Mother’s Day celebration is a testament to the resilience and dedication of military mothers and a heartfelt thank you for their service and sacrifice. It highlights the importance of community support for military families.
