The FBI Cincinnati field office is now accepting applications for its 2026 Teen Academy, a program designed to give high school students an in-depth understanding of FBI operations.
Teen Academy Details
This year’s academy will be held in Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus throughout June, July, and August. The program is open to students within the FBI Cincinnati’s area of responsibility, which includes Central and Southern Ohio.
Curriculum Highlights
The academy will cover a wide range of FBI functions, including intelligence analysis, forensic science, crisis negotiation, and the work of the Behavioral Analysis Units. Participants will learn about the diverse career paths within the FBI and how they contribute to community protection.
Eligibility requires current high school enrollment, good academic standing, and parental consent. Due to high demand, the selection process will be competitive, and the application deadline is approaching.
Local Safety Concerns
The announcement of the Teen Academy coincides with several recent safety incidents in Central Ohio. A Columbus mother is urging increased parental awareness after her 12-year-old son was assaulted by a group of teenagers.
Increased Security Measures
The Short North Arts District is implementing enhanced security measures to address potential incidents during warmer weather and increased foot traffic. Mayor Andrew Ginther has affirmed the city’s commitment to public safety in the area.
Surveillance footage captured a series of attempted carjackings at a Whitehall car wash, prompting a police investigation. These incidents highlight a growing trend of violent crime.
Business & Incident Updates
All Smokey Bones Barbecue restaurants nationwide have closed, impacting dining options in the region. Additionally, a witness described the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 71 in Delaware County on April 11th as profoundly traumatic.
These events collectively underscore the need for continued investment in community safety, proactive parenting, and a resilient local economy. The FBI Teen Academy aims to foster understanding and collaboration between law enforcement and the public, contributing to a safer community.
