Evanston beach passes are now available for purchase, marking the upcoming start of the summer season. While the weather might hint at warmer days, official beach access requires proper passes, especially as Chicago's beaches differ from Evanston's policy.

Beach Pass Sales and Requirements

Sales for Evanston beach passes began on Monday. Unlike Chicago's free public beaches, Evanston requires passes for entry to its Lake Michigan shoreline. Proof of residency is mandatory for obtaining these passes.

Free Passes for Evanston Residents

Evanston residents living in ZIP codes 60201 and 60202 are eligible for free beach passes. These can be collected during business hours at various community centers, including the Levy Senior Center, Ecology Center, and Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center.

Seasonal beach offices at Dempster Street Beach and Clark Street Beach also offer pass acquisition. Residents in these eligible ZIP codes should check the specific operating hours for each location.

Access for Skokie Residents and Others

Residents of Skokie, including those in ZIP codes 60203, 60076, and 60077, can purchase passes at discounted rates. Proof of Skokie residency is required.

Pricing for Skokie residents is $35 from April 14 to June 6, $43 from June 7 to August 1, and $24 from August 2 to Labor Day. These rates are consistent with last year's pricing.

Non-Evanston residents will pay $63 from April 13 to June 5, $85 from June 6 to August 1, and $43 from August 2 to Labor Day. Daily tickets are also available for purchase at beach entrances and offices.

Special Eligibility and Guest Passes

Student and University Access

Students enrolled in Evanston's School District 65 or 202 who do not reside in Evanston, along with their families, receive free beach admission. Proof of residency with a district student is necessary.

Northwestern University students can also obtain a free season beach pass by presenting a valid student ID for the current academic year. However, university staff and faculty are not included in this offer.

Guest Ticket Information

Evanston residents can purchase guest tickets for $5 each. Each Evanston resident is limited to a maximum of 20 guest tickets per household.

Opening Date and Important Reminders

Evanston beaches are scheduled to officially open on Saturday, May 23. Visitors are reminded to check weather forecasts before their visit, as conditions can change.

Understanding these policies ensures a smooth and enjoyable experience at Evanston's beaches throughout the summer season.
