A father in Brazil passed out at the exact moment his wife gave birth to their second daughter via C-section on April 18th. The surprising incident was captured on camera and has quickly gained widespread attention online.

Emotional Moment at Hospital in Criciúma

Maicon Pedroso was present with his wife, Mariane Felippe, for a scheduled Cesarean section at a hospital in Criciúma, Brazil. The delivery proceeded smoothly, but Maicon experienced a sudden loss of consciousness as their daughter was born.

Quick Response from Medical Staff

Maicon was holding his wife’s hand when he unexpectedly blacked out. Alert medical staff immediately intervened to prevent a fall. A nurse and colleagues gently lowered him to the floor, elevating his legs and using a fan to help him regain awareness.

Father Has No Memory of the Event

Photographs show Maicon, dressed in hospital scrubs, being supported by a nurse while recovering. He stated to local media, “I don’t remember anything at all from the moment the baby was born.”

A Calm Atmosphere Disrupted

The couple arrived at the hospital earlier that morning after Mariane’s water broke. Birth photographers Patricia Vogel and Viviane Borges, who were documenting the birth, described the atmosphere as calm and confident. “When we arrived, they were a bit anxious, but everything was going as expected,” Vogel explained.

Borges added, “Then, at 8.24am, at the exact moment the baby was born, the father fainted.”

Family Overjoyed with New Arrival

Maicon quickly recovered and was able to meet his newborn daughter. The couple also have an older daughter. The medical team, who have documented over 1,500 births, noted that while they had seen similar reactions, it remained an unusual occurrence.

Viral Video and Social Media Reaction

A video of Maicon fainting has gone viral, amassing nearly 19 million views. Social media users responded with humor and empathy, acknowledging the emotional and physical toll childbirth can take on both parents.

Comments ranged from jokes about fathers “stealing the spotlight” to supportive messages. One user playfully remarked, “Stay strong, warrior!” Another quipped, “The baby’s birth – and the father’s rebirth.”

Rare Reaction, Both Mother and Baby Doing Well

Health professionals reassured the public that such reactions are rare, attributing them to anxiety, anticipation, and the hospital environment. Both mother and baby are doing well, and the family is overjoyed with their new daughter.
