Former MasterChef host Gregg Wallace has spoken out about the challenges of raising his autistic son, Sid, and the lack of available support for families in similar situations.

Gregg Wallace's Son Diagnosed with Autism

Wallace, 61, and his wife Anne-Marie Sterpini, 38, revealed that their son Sid was diagnosed with autism and global developmental delay in 2022. In a recent Instagram post, Wallace shared a photo of Sid with his mother, writing, "This is our little Sid. He has just turned seven, he is non-verbal and still in nappies."

Creating Support for Neurodivergent Families

Wallace highlighted the difficulty of finding expert help for neurodivergent children, stating, "Expert help and advice is not easy to find as any parent of a neurodivergent child will tell you." To address this gap, the family launched AltogetherND.co.uk, a website aimed at providing support and resources for parents of autistic children.

Sid's Communication Progress

In 2024, Wallace shared updates on Sid's communication progress. A video showed Sid counting to ten with his grandmother, which Wallace captioned "Sid & Nonna" and tagged the charity Ambitious About Autism. The clip received an outpouring of support from Wallace's followers.

On Mother's Day in March 2024, Wallace announced that Sid had spoken his first words, sharing a video of his son reciting numbers from a Montessori Sensory Board. He wrote, "Sid is counting! It's his first words!"

Addressing Backlash and Misconceptions

Wallace previously faced backlash over comments about his weekend routine, where he mentioned he "wouldn't have chosen" to have his son. He clarified that these remarks were taken out of context, explaining that he spends quality time with Sid daily. Wallace also addressed misconceptions about Sid being unwanted, revealing that it took the couple two years to conceive.

Wallace and Sterpini married in 2016 and welcomed Sid in 2017. Despite the challenges, the family remains committed to supporting Sid and other families navigating similar journeys.
