Nintendo's June 2026 Direct presentation unveiled a massive slate of software designed to bridge the gap between the current Switch and the upcoming Switch 2. the event featured major franchise updates including Zelda: Ocarina of Time remakes, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, and Star Fox.

The October 8th Kingdom Hearts launch on Switch 2

A central pillar of the presentation was the announcement of a Kingdom Hearts collection arriving exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 8. According to the report, players will once again follow Sora, Donald Duck, and Goofy through Disney and Pixar worlds to battle the Darkness using the Keyblade.

Nintendo is also implementing a strategic pricing bridge for existing fans.. The report notes that players who currently own the cloud version of the game on the original Nintendo Switch will be eligible to purchase the Switch 2 version at a discounted rate. Pre-orders for the collection are expected to go live later today, with a playable demo slated for release in the near future.

Splatoon Raiders and the Summer 2026 network test

The next-generation hardware will also host Splatoon Raiders, a new multiplayer action title launching exclusively in 2026. This title introduces a "Bloodsworn" mechanic, allowing up to seven players to utilize blood-based powers to transform their combat styles in pursuit of the "First Blood."

As Nintendo prepares for this launch, the company has announced a closed network test scheduled for summer 2026. This testing phase will be critical for stabilizing the multiplayer experience before the full release. Additionally, the roadmap for the Switch 2 includes the arrival of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in 2027, which will feature new high-speed vehicles and racing modes.

Minecraft’s 'Vibrant Visuals' and the Bubbly Basin expansion

For players remaining on current hardware, Minecraft is receiving a significant free update this August. This update introduces a new "Dive" mechanic, allowing players to explore the ocean floor to plant grass and build underwater structures.

The Switch 2 version of Minecraft will receive a specialized Vibrant Visuals graphics upgrade alongside the Bubbly Basin Expansion Pass. This paid DLC, also launching in August, will introduce an underwater town and new Pokémon-themed elements. Furthermore, Switch 2 owners will gain access to the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack, which includes 15 tracks and 40 character skins inspired by the Mario franchise.

Contradictory details regarding the 'Fight Through' title

While much of the Direct was clear, the reporting contains significant ambiguity regarding a game titled Fight Through. The source provides two entirely different descriptions for the project:one describes a two-player co-op space adventure featuring characters Maki and Omura, while the other describes a dark fantasy Kyoto-based aciton game starring the samurai Miyamoto Musashi.

It remains unverified whether these are two distinct titles that share a name, or if the presentation inadvertently conflated two different game concepts. Until Nintendo provides further clarification, the specific genre and setting of Fight Through remain one of the event's biggest unanswered questions.
