ABC13 and CompuCycle are partnering to host the annual Earth Day E-Cycle Drive on Friday, April 24, 2026. This event provides a convenient opportunity for Houston residents to responsibly recycle their old electronics and contribute to a cleaner environment.

Event Details

The drive will be held at CompuCycle, located at 8019 Kempwood Dr., Houston, TX 77055, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants can simply drive up, and the CompuCycle team will assist with unloading and processing the electronics.

A Milestone Anniversary

This year’s drive is particularly significant as it marks CompuCycle’s 30th anniversary. The company has a long history of commitment to responsible e-waste recycling.

What Can Be Recycled?

CompuCycle accepts a wide range of electronic items, including:

  • Computers
  • Phones
  • Fax machines
  • Wi-Fi extenders
  • E-readers
  • MP3 players
  • Streaming devices
  • Charging cables

Items posing a fire, explosion, or pollution risk will not be accepted. Participants are encouraged to back up data and perform factory resets on devices before dropping them off.

Past Successes

The E-Cycle Drive has a proven track record of success, even setting a Guinness World Record in 2014 for the largest single-day e-waste collection. This demonstrates the event’s substantial impact on the community and the environment.

Responsible Recycling Practices

All collected electronics will undergo a thorough process, including sorting, secure data wiping, and material processing for reuse in new products. CompuCycle adheres to e-Stewards certification standards, ensuring data security and environmentally sound practices.

Protecting the Environment

Safely recycling electronics is crucial for diverting e-waste from Houston landfills and preventing harmful toxins from entering the air, soil, and water. This protects public health and promotes a more sustainable city.
