Travis Barker is set to share his deeply personal story of survival and recovery in the upcoming Hulu documentary, 'Louder Than Fear', premiering this summer.

The 2008 Plane Crash

The documentary will detail the aftermath of the devastating airplane crash on September 19, 2008, which claimed the lives of four people. Barker and fellow musician Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein were the only survivors.

A Harrowing Escape

The private jet experienced a tire blowout during takeoff in South Carolina, leading to a crash that sent the plane off the runway, through a fence, and across a highway before coming to rest in an embankment. Barker sustained third-degree burns over 65 percent of his body and underwent 26 surgeries and months of hospitalization.

Overcoming a Decade of Fear

Beyond the physical injuries, the crash left Barker with a profound fear of flying that impacted his life for over a decade. He described being haunted by the experience and constantly anticipating another crash.

The Role of Kourtney Kardashian

The documentary chronicles Barker’s journey to overcome his debilitating fear, a process significantly aided by his wife, Kourtney Kardashian. Her support was instrumental in enabling him to board a plane again in 2021.

A Journey of Healing and Resilience

Barker emphasizes that overcoming his fear was about reclaiming control of his life and refusing to let trauma dictate his future. He also acknowledges the crash served as a wake-up call, prompting him to address struggles with prescription drug abuse.

'Louder Than Fear' promises an unfiltered look at Barker’s resilience, his battle with PTSD, and the importance of the relationships that sustained him. The documentary also pays tribute to those who lost their lives in the crash. Barker hopes sharing his story will inspire others facing their own challenges.

“It’s a wild ride I can’t wait to share with the world,” Barker stated about the project, which has been in development for over ten years.
