Friends and family mourned the loss of Jordan Wright, former star of The Only Way Is Essex and Ex On The Beach, at a funeral service in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex.

Details of Wright’s Death

The 33-year-old was found dead in a drainage ditch in Phuket, Thailand on March 14th, discovered by a local farmer. A post-mortem examination was conducted at Basildon Hospital, but toxicology results are still pending.

Investigation and Funeral Arrangements

An inquest has been opened but adjourned until September 14th to allow for further investigation. The funeral was held in a 12th-century church and attended by loved ones who paid tribute with floral arrangements, including an anchor and the spelling of his name.

Final Days in Thailand

Wright had been in Thailand since December, traveling on a digital nomad visa. CCTV footage showed him acting erratically in the days before his death, sprinting back to Hotel COCO Phuket Bangtao Beach and appearing agitated.

He was seen grabbing onto a pickup truck for support and pacing before running into nearby fields. His body was discovered two days later in a drainage canal on a construction site.

Ongoing Investigation

Thai authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, stating that it is “unclear” and that the involvement of others is a possibility. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and have recovered Wright’s iPhone 17, hotel key card, and his Kawasaki motorcycle from the hotel.

Investigators are awaiting toxicology reports from Vachira Phuket Hospital to determine if drugs were a factor. Hotel staff reported Wright was staying alone and had not had any visitors, and failed to check out on his scheduled departure date.

Tributes from Friends

Friends have expressed their shock and grief on social media, describing Wright as a “lovely lad” and sharing memories of his infectious laugh. The case remains open as police explore all avenues to understand the events leading up to his tragic death.
