Ticketmaster is actively combating ticket scalpers to ensure genuine fans can access tickets for Harry Styles’ upcoming New York City residency at Madison Square Garden.

Crackdown on Fraudulent Activity

The company has cancelled thousands of tickets acquired through fraudulent means and is making them available again to legitimate fans. This action targets scalpers who utilized fake accounts to exploit high demand and resell tickets at inflated prices.

Targeting Affordable Seats

Ticketmaster identified a significant scalping operation specifically focused on securing the most in-demand and affordable seats for Styles’ ‘Together, Together’ tour. These illegally obtained tickets are now being redistributed at the original price.

Addressing Fan Concerns

This move follows widespread frustration earlier this year when VIP packages for the 30-night residency reached exorbitant prices, exceeding $1,667 in some instances. Ticketmaster President Saumil Mehta addressed the issue, providing transparency about the ticketing process and how the scalping operation was neutralized.

Saumil Mehta emphasized that no legitimate fans have had their tickets cancelled and that purchases made directly from Ticketmaster or official resale channels remain valid.

New Ticket Request Window

To provide another opportunity for fans, Ticketmaster is offering a request window from April 30th at noon EDT to May 1st at 5pm EDT. Fans can request up to four tickets for two shows, with successful applicants being automatically charged.

Confirmation emails will be sent by May 8th at 11:50pm. Mehta also detailed ticket price distribution, stating that 19% cost $50, 77% are under $95, and all tickets are priced below $130.

Broader Context

This crackdown occurs after a federal jury found Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation, to have excessive control over major concert venues – a decision Live Nation plans to appeal.

Global Tour Impact

Harry Styles’ ‘Together, Together’ tour includes multi-day residencies globally, including a record-breaking 12 nights at London’s Wembley Stadium. While Taylor Swift’s UK concerts generated nearly £1 billion in revenue, Styles is focusing his UK performances in London, expected to contribute £709 million to the local economy.

The tour schedule includes dates in Amsterdam, São Paulo, Mexico City, Melbourne, and Sydney, with general sales beginning in January and February. Detailed schedules and on-sale dates are available for each city.
