Director Craig Gillespie has revealed the runtime for the upcoming DC Universe film, Supergirl, at 1 hour and 50 minutes, including credits. This makes it the shortest film in the DCU to date.

Supergirl's Concise Runtime

The confirmed runtime, previously speculated to be around 1 hour and 45 minutes, distinguishes Milly Alcock’s solo film from its predecessor. Gillespie expressed his satisfaction with the project’s progress, stating, “I feel really great about it. I’m very excited for everybody to see it.”

Final Stages of Production

The team is currently finalizing visual effects and completing the sound mix, indicating they are “basically at the finish line” ahead of the film’s release on June 26th. David Corenswet’s Superman clocked in at 2 hours and 10 minutes, making Supergirl approximately 20 minutes shorter.

Lobo's Comic-Accurate Debut

Gillespie also discussed Jason Momoa’s portrayal of Lobo, praising his dynamic presence. Momoa joined the production approximately two months into filming.

On-Screen Chemistry

“When you see those two go at it in a scene together, it’s just electric,” Gillespie remarked, highlighting the interaction between Alcock and Momoa. He assured fans that Lobo’s characterization “stays very true to the comic book” source material.

When asked about a potential post-credits scene, Gillespie declined to comment, responding, “I can’t tease that, sorry.” The screenplay was written by Ana Nogueira, inspired by the comic run by Tom King and Bilquis Evely (2021-2022). Supergirl is set to premiere in theaters on June 26th.
