The latest reboot of Masters of the Universe is drawing inspiration from one of Hollywood's most successful franchises. Producer Jason Blumenthal revealed that the film's depiction of Eternia uses techniques inspired by James Cameron's Avatar movies, particularly the creation of a unique language system for the planet.

The movie stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam, who is hidden on Earth for 15 years before returning to Eternia to reclaim his throne and defeat the villainous Skeletor, played by Jared Leto.

The $6.7 Billion Blueprint

According to Blumenthal, the art department has developed an Eternian language with its own alphabet and symbols, similar to the Na'vi language in Avatar.. This language is integrated into the film's sets and props, including Teela's ship, where phrases are written in Eternian. The producer noted that the level of detail is so extensive that it can be considered an Easter egg for fans who want to delve deeper into the lore.

As reported by ScreenRant, Blumenthal explained, "Our art department has created a language, an Eternian language, with a grid, with letters, and we have plastered throughout the sets and different, on Teela's ship, different phrases that if you take the time and you want to nerd out and you want to follow the grid."

Eternia's Linguistic Identity

The inclusion of a unique language for Eternia serves to distinguish the fantasy world from Earth, where parts of the movie also take place.. This linguistic detail adds depth to the world-building, making the planet's culture, history, and technology feel more authentic and immersive.

The trailers for Masters of the Universe suggest that the film will primarily feature spoken English, but there may be instances of spoken Eternian as well. This approach mirrors the way Avatar uses the Na'vi language to enhance its alien world.

Differentiating from Past Adaptations

The new Masters of the Universe movie is set to differ significantly from previous adaptations. With a focus on both fantasy and sci-fi elements, and the introduction of a constructed language, the film aims to stand out. The unique qualities of Eternia, such as its magic and advanced technology, make the development of a distinct language a logical step in the movie's world-building.

As reported, Blumenthal noted that the film's approach to Eternia's language is part of a broader effort to differentiate it from other He-Man movies and TV shows. This includes Adam's time on Earth and a more balanced focus on both fantasy and sci-fi elements.

What's Still Unknown

While the details of the Eternian language and its role in the film have been revealed, there are still questions about how extensively it will be used. Will there be spoken Eternian dialogue, or will it remain a visual element? Additionally, the extent to which the language will be explored in the film's narrative remains unclear.

According to the report, the film's release date is set for June 5, 2026, and fans will soon have the opportunity to see how these elements come together on the big screen.
