The final suspect in a high-profile robbery and kidnapping case involving rappers Pooh Shiesty, BIG30, and Gucci Mane has been arrested. Terrance Rodgers was taken into custody in Atlanta on Thursday, according to the FBI, concluding the investigation into a January incident in Dallas.
Details of the Arrest and Investigation
Authorities have not released further details regarding Rodgers’ arrest or a mugshot at this time. The case has garnered significant attention within the music industry, raising concerns about safety and contractual disputes.
The Alleged Kidnapping and Robbery
A total of nine individuals are accused of orchestrating the armed robbery and kidnapping. Lontrell Williams Jr. (Pooh Shiesty) and Rodney Wright Jr. (BIG30) are among those charged. Other defendants include Lontrell Williams Sr., Kedarius Waters, Damarian Gipson, Demarcus Glover, Kordae Johnson, Darrion McDaniel, and Terrance Rodgers.
Motive Behind the Crime
Federal authorities believe the primary motive was to force Williams Jr. to terminate his recording contract with The New 1017 Records, owned by Atlanta rapper Radric Davis, known as Gucci Mane. The incident occurred on January 10th, 2024, when three music industry professionals traveled to Dallas for a meeting regarding Williams Jr.’s contract.
Evidence and Allegations
Prosecutors allege a meticulously planned armed takeover. Williams Jr. is accused of brandishing an AK-style pistol and holding a victim at gunpoint, forcing them to sign a contract release. Other defendants allegedly brandished firearms and robbed the victims of Rolex watches, jewelry, and cash.
Investigative Techniques
The investigation utilized electronic monitoring data from Williams Jr.’s ankle monitor, license plate readers, and social media posts to connect the suspects to the crime. Wright Jr. allegedly barricaded a studio door to prevent escape, and another victim was reportedly choked. Following the robbery, several defendants allegedly posted photos and videos of the stolen jewelry on social media.
Prior Circumstances and Potential Penalties
Williams Jr. was under federal home confinement at the time of the robbery due to a prior firearms conspiracy conviction in Florida. His father, Lontrell Williams Sr., is also charged with assisting in the planning and execution of the kidnapping, including renting a vehicle for the trip from Memphis to Dallas.
All nine defendants face federal charges of kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping. If convicted, each could face a maximum sentence of life in federal prison.
