The 90-minute service saw hundreds of mourners crammed inside St Mary the Virgin, in Wanstead, London.

Among those to pay tribute during the service was Jake's brother Sonny, whose voice choked up with emotion as he spoke movingly of their lives together in a message he had pre-recorded .

He promised that he would help care for Jake's daughter River and told how his brother had done more in 35 years than most people would in several lifetimes.

Sonny tearfully concluded saying: 'I love you so much - I miss you so much.'

Co-stars and family members attended the emotional service.

Co-stars of the hit reality TV series, boxer Derek Chisora and members of David Beckham's family including his mother Sandra and sister Joanne were also among the packed congregation.

Many appeared to be in disbelief following the star's shocking death aged just 35 after he ran through a glass door in a holiday villa he was renting on the Spanish island of Majorca.

Jake's best friend told how the pair had met as teenagers and how Jake had dreamed of being a footballer as a youngster.

He said that when Jake realised he was not going to make the grade he concentrated on his other passion - women.

But the friend, called Jobe, told the congregation: 'After a long relationship with his first love Chloe, he met Misse and shortly after his life changed forever when she fell pregnant with his beautiful daughter River.'

River changed everything. He loved her beyond words and was a great dad. They are so similar - she is him.'

The Reverend James Gilder, who conducted the service, spoke of the difficulties and 'complex emotions' of dealing with Jake's 'untimely death'.

He told the packed congregation: 'Today here , we have a mum and dad who have lost their son, we have got a brother who lost his brother and we have a child who lost her father.'

Once the business of today calms down, I have no doubt that the next few months are going to be terribly hard for them.

'You have all lost someone who you care about in Jake. Life is short. Sometimes it is shorter than it should be.'

The funeral service was attended by hundreds of mourners who came to say their final goodbyes.

Outside the church, more than 200 mourners dressed in black tearfully watched the proceedings on a big screen which had been poignantly set up beside the headstones in the graveyard at the 18th century church.

Many wept and hugged each other during the tributes but there was also applause and laughter as friends and loved ones relived memories of Jake's colourful life from his dreams of being a footballer to his love of women and his career as a TV star and fashion entrepreneur.
