During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show, actor Chris Pratt discussed the success of his series The Terminal List. He noted that the show's unapologetic patriotic tone has resonated with an audience often overlooked by mainstream Hollywood.
17 Veterans and the Pursuit of Combat Authenticity
The production of The Terminal List relies heavily on military expertise to maintain its reputation for realism. Pratt admitted that his own understanding of combat is limited to what he has seen in films, noting he has never experienced a deployment in places like Fallujah. To compensate, the production incorporates 17 veterans, including several special operators who serve as executive producers.
According to the report, these veterans provide essential oversight on everything from combat tactics and jargon to the general decorum of military personnel. As Pratt explained during his appearance, this hands-on involvement ensures that the action feels authentic to those who have served, which he believes is a primary reason for the show's popularity.
From Dark Psychological Thriller to Global Spy Espionage
Season 2 of the series marks a significant departure from the original psychological thriller format. While the first season focused on a Navy SEAL's personal vengeance following a conspiracy and a brain tumor, the upcoming installment is set to expand its scope. Pratt teased that the second season will transform into a "globe-trotting global spy thriller" centered on international espionage .
Leveraging Jack Carr’s Navy SEAL Lore for a Global Audience
The series draws its narrative strength from the established world of Jack Carr, a former Navy SEAL and best-selling author. As the report notes, Carr’s combat experience serves as the foundation for the book series upon which the show is based. This connection provides a level of built-in credibility that is rare in high-budget action productions , allowing the show to bridge the gap between literary realism and Hollywood spectacle.
Will the Shift to Espionage Leave the Navy SEAL Details Behind?
While the expansion into international espionage is confirmed, several details remain unverified.. the source does not clarify which specific global locations will serve as the backdrop for the second season, nor does it detail how the series will balance its new spy-thriller elements with the gritty, personal stakes of the first season. Additionally, it remains to be seen if the production will continue to utilize the same high ratio of veteran consultants to maintain the tactical accuracy that fans have come to expect .
