Maya Jama and a star-studded cast have arrived in Scotland to begin filming the second series of BBC’s Celebrity Traitors. The group includes well-known faces such as Julie Hesmondhalgh, Ross Kemp, and James Blunt.
Maya Jama’s Role and Pay Cut
Maya Jama, recognized as the host of Love Island, reportedly accepted a significant pay cut to join the BBC series. She is swapping the warmer climates of Spain and South Africa for the Scottish Highlands.
Arrivals at Inverness Airport
Maya Jama was spotted arriving at Inverness Airport on Sunday afternoon, preparing for filming. She was dressed casually in a white t-shirt and cream trousers, wearing sunglasses and offering a nervous smile to airport staff.
Comedian Joanne McNally, traveling on the same flight, was seen with her luggage, wearing cycling shorts and dark shades.
Attracting a Younger Audience
Maya Jama was reportedly the first celebrity approached by the show’s producers, with the aim of attracting a younger audience. The 31-year-old accepted a fee of £40,000 for Celebrity Traitors, a considerable reduction from her usual earnings for hosting Love Island.
Excitement for Deceptive Gameplay
A source close to the production revealed Maya’s enthusiasm for the show’s deceptive elements. “She loved watching the first Celebrity Traitors series at home with Rúben and is so excited to get filming,” the source stated. “She can’t wait to do some fibbing and be as deceitful as possible to try to win it.”
Full Cast and Filming Location
The timing of the filming allows Maya to transition directly to hosting the summer edition of Love Island in Majorca in June. The full cast was officially announced on Saturday with the release of a teaser trailer.
Celebrity Lineup
The lineup includes Jerry Hall, Richard E. Grant, Bella Ramsey, Amol Rajan, Michael Sheen, and James Blunt. Other participants are Rob Beckett, Joe Lycett, Miranda Hart, James Acaster, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Hannah Fry, King Kenny, Myha’la, Sebastian Croft, and Sharon Rooney.
The trailer, filmed in an airport arrivals area, features the celebrities holding chalkboards with their names, hinting at the show’s theme of deception. Miranda Hart arrived in Scotland with her husband, Richard Fairs, while other stars like Ross Kemp and Julie Hesmondhalgh headed to Ardross Castle.
