Luxury Roman Residence Acquired

Catherine Zeta‑Jones, 56, has bought a multi‑million‑pound penthouse in Rome for her husband, Michael Douglas, 81. The apartment is located inside a historic palazzo near Piazza Navona, offering panoramic views toward St. Peter’s Basilica.

Renovation and First Viewing

The actress began renovating the property after first seeing it in November, investing millions in artwork and upgrades. Douglas toured the home for the first time last week.

Low‑Key Public Appearance

Both stars were spotted in the city wearing baseball caps and sunglasses to avoid attention. Zeta‑Jones paired a £20 Paris 2024 cap with a £3,900 Chanel bumbag.

Dining and Filming in Rome

After inspecting the penthouse on Wednesday, the couple dined at San Marco restaurant, sharing spaghetti. Douglas is in Rome filming the upcoming movie White Lies alongside Josh Hartnett.

Expanding a Global Property Portfolio

The new purchase adds to the couple’s extensive real‑estate holdings, which include homes in New York, Bermuda, Spain and Canada. Their 25‑year marriage began after meeting at the 1998 Deauville Film Festival and they wed at New York’s Plaza Hotel in 2000.

They are parents to son Dylan, 25, and daughter Carys, 23.
