Genevieve Chenneour, recognized for her role in the popular series Bridgerton, is currently the face of a new campaign for Opuline Jewellery. This collaboration comes after a challenging year for the actress, during which she experienced two separate incidents of violence in London.

New Campaign Amidst Personal Struggles

Recent posts on Chenneour’s Instagram showcase the 28-year-old actress in a glamorous photoshoot for Opuline Jewellery, featuring striking imagery. The campaign marks a return to public life following a period of personal difficulty.

Confronting a Thief and Suffering Injury

In February of last year, Chenneour bravely intervened when a mobile phone was stolen at a Joe & The Juice cafe. She confronted the thief, Zacariah Boulares, resulting in a concussion for the actress. Boulares was subsequently sentenced to 22 months in prison. A second suspect involved in the incident was investigated but not charged.

Impact on Personal Safety

Following the February incident, Chenneour felt unsafe in London and moved back in with her mother. She described experiencing “severely agoraphobic” feelings, panic attacks, and a fear of using public transport.

Second Assault Near Oxford Circus

More recently, in November, Chenneour was physically assaulted near Oxford Circus shortly before an audition. She shared a tearful account of the event on Instagram, describing being targeted and struck by a man, which further exacerbated her anxiety.

Resilience Despite Sporting Background

Despite a strong athletic background – including qualifications in Olympic swimming and Amateur Boxing – Chenneour has found her sense of security significantly impacted by these experiences. She currently relies on hotels when work requires her to be in London.

Rising Crime Rates in London

Chenneour’s experiences reflect a broader trend of increasing crime in London, with overall crime rates rising by nearly a third over the past decade. She hopes that by openly sharing her story, she can raise awareness about the impact of violence and the challenges faced by individuals in urban environments.
