Barry Keoghan on Weight Loss & Cheating Rumors

Barry Keoghan, the 33-year-old actor known for his role in Saltburn, has discussed the challenges of portraying Ringo Starr in the upcoming Beatles biopic and responded to recent cheating allegations.

The Beatles Biopic: A Demanding Role

The project, titled The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event, will chronicle the band’s journey from their beginnings in Liverpool through their rise to fame and eventual dissolution in 1970. Keoghan revealed he lost over a stone (approximately 14 pounds) during the year-long filming process.

Physical Toll and Unintentional Weight Loss

Unlike typical film shoots, this biopic demanded an extended commitment, significantly impacting Keoghan’s physical state. He explained his weight loss was unintentional, partially attributed to his ADHD medication, which can suppress appetite.

“I’ve lost so much weight on this movie,” Keoghan shared on Benny Blanco’s Friends Keep Secrets podcast. “I was 65 or 66 kilos and I’m like 58 kilos now. But it’s because of my ADHD meds as well. No one tells you to lose weight and I don’t need to lose it for Ringo either. But it’s more of getting into character and the stamina.”

The Cast and Creative Team

Directed by Sam Mendes, the biopic features Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison. Each film will focus on a different member of The Beatles, providing a unique perspective on their story.

Addressing Cheating Allegations

Beyond the demands of the role, Keoghan also addressed personal controversies during the interview. He firmly denied allegations of infidelity involving pop star Sabrina Carpenter, stating these rumors contributed to his withdrawal from public life.

Denying the Rumors

Keoghan and Carpenter dated for a year before their split in December 2024. Speculation arose after a blind item on DeuxMoi claimed Keoghan had been unfaithful with TikTok influencer Breckie Hill. Keoghan clarified he had never met Hill and the rumors were false.

“I came off Instagram, social profiles. I stopped going to events, socializing,” he explained. “It’s because there was a narrative out there that’s not true. I never confirmed or said anything about it so I just disappeared.” He also noted a video posted by Hill denying the allegations.

Relationship Challenges and Breakup

An insider told Us Weekly that Keoghan was “very devoted to her happiness,” but the couple struggled with their busy schedules and career paths. Carpenter’s hit single “Manchild” is reportedly inspired by their relationship. Keoghan’s previous relationships include Shona Guerin (2017-2020) and Alyson Kierans (2021-2023), with whom he shares a son, Brando.
