Austin residents can once again combine their love of craft beer with supporting a vital community service through the annual Barks for Beers event.

Divine Canines and Local Breweries Partner Up

Divine Canines, a Central Texas nonprofit, is collaborating with 30 local breweries – including some that also operate as coffee shops – for a month-long fundraising initiative. The event aims to support the organization’s free therapy dog services throughout Central Texas.

How Barks for Beers Works

For a $30 donation, participants receive a custom glass and a ‘passport.’ This passport allows them to visit participating breweries throughout the month. Each brewery visit earns a stamp or punch on the passport, encouraging exploration of Austin’s thriving craft beer scene.

Supporting Therapy Dog Services

Barks for Beers is a significant fundraiser for Divine Canines. The organization provides free therapy dog services to schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and during emergency response situations.

Divine Canines utilizes the human-animal bond to bring comfort, stress relief, and joy to those in need.

New Breweries and Canine Companions

This year’s event features several new brewery additions, offering a diverse range of atmospheres. Some locations even include unique amenities like pickleball courts.

Attendees may even encounter some of the therapy dogs themselves, such as Whiskey and Scotch, serving as a heartwarming reminder of the event’s purpose.

Become a Therapy Dog Team

Divine Canines is actively recruiting new therapy dog teams. Well-behaved dogs who enjoy interacting with people can make a significant difference in the community.

The process begins with an American Kennel Club Canine Citizen certification, followed by a five-week training program with Divine Canines. Classes are scheduled to begin in September and October.

Barks for Beers is more than just a beer crawl; it’s a community event celebrating canine companionship and supporting a valuable local resource. It offers something for everyone, from beer enthusiasts to dog lovers.
