A 16-year-old Indianapolis resident is facing serious felony charges, including murder and armed robbery, in connection with the death of 24-year-old Wilson Astreide.
Fatal Shooting and Charges
Richard Williams was formally charged on Tuesday with murder and armed robbery related to the shooting of Astreide. He is currently detained in the Marion County jail.
Williams faces two counts of murder, one count of robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, and one count of armed robbery in Marion Superior Court 30. He is also charged with the misdemeanor of dangerous possession of a firearm by a minor.
Details of the Incident
On April 9, 2025, Astreide was shot and paralyzed during a carjacking in the 300 block of North Temple Avenue, near East New York Street. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers found him critically wounded at the scene.
Astreide arrived in a silver 2021 Kia Sportage with a Florida license plate, which was later recovered abandoned. He succumbed to his injuries on August 10, 2025, at Reid Hospital in Richmond.
Investigation and Evidence
Investigators determined Astreide’s death was a homicide resulting from complications of a gunshot wound to the neck, leaving him a quadriplegic. A single .45 Auto cartridge casing was found at the crime scene.
Witnesses and surveillance footage suggest a female acquaintance lured Astreide to the location for a robbery. Astreide provided a statement to detectives before his condition worsened. His family and a GPS tracking service located the stolen SUV on April 12, 2025, on North Tacoma Avenue.
Additional Arrests and Gang Connection
Williams, who was 15 at the time of the shooting, was initially arrested on April 16, 2025, for robbery with serious bodily injury. A female accomplice was arrested on May 2, 2025, in connection with the crime.
The area of the shooting has been linked to the Project Babies Thuggin (PBT) crime group, which is currently under IMPD investigation. Williams is known as “Hell Head” on social media.
