The suspect allegedly discharged a firearm, described as larger than a handgun, after a minor dispute on King Street prior to the shooting.
Details of the Incident
Nabil Askafe walked approximately 100 feet before collapsing near a mobile phone store within the mall. Emergency responders discovered him at the scene.
Investigators are working to determine any relationship between the suspects and the victim. The second suspect is believed to have been unarmed and is also encouraged to come forward.
Witness Accounts and Mall Evacuation
Initial reports described the suspects as two white males between the ages of 19 and 20, wearing grey and blue tracksuits. Witnesses reported seeing them fleeing the scene on foot, heading east towards James Street.
Superintendent Marty Schulenberg emphasized the seriousness of the brazen act of violence. The mall was temporarily evacuated following the shooting but has since reopened.

The victim has been identified as Nabil Askafe. He is survived by his parents, a younger brother, and a large family network.
