A 14-year-old boy is being sought by Hamilton police in connection with the death of a 16-year-old male at Jackson Square mall on Friday afternoon. Authorities are also searching for a second suspect involved in the incident.

The tragic shooting occurred after an initial interaction between the two teenagers outside the mall. This escalated into a physical altercation inside Jackson Square, ultimately resulting in the 16-year-old succumbing to his injuries at a local hospital.
Investigation Details
According to Detective Robert Di Ianni of the Hamilton Police Service, only one suspect appeared to be armed with a weapon described as larger than a standard handgun. Investigators are working to determine the extent of involvement of the second suspect, who is also at large.
Police are urging both suspects to turn themselves in and seek legal counsel. Due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the 14-year-old suspect’s identity cannot be released at this time, though authorities are seeking judicial authorization to do so.
