A harrowing incident unfolded in Oswestry, Shropshire, on Monday, leaving a business owner deeply shaken and physically bruised after a brazen hit-and-run attack by thieves.

Robbery and Pursuit

Rebecca Davies, 33, proprietor of a house clearance company, was deliberately knocked to the ground by individuals fleeing the scene of a robbery at her business premises. The shocking event was captured on security footage.

Davies attempted to intercept a large white van suspected of being used in the theft, exiting her vehicle to do so. The van was then driven directly at her, resulting in a collision.

Injuries Sustained

While thankfully not suffering from severe injuries, Davies sustained bruises and scratches. Her partner, Dan Brown, who also attempted to pursue the van, suffered a black eye and a headache.

Davies' Reaction

Davies expressed feeling profoundly violated and questioned the disregard for human life displayed by the perpetrators. She struggles to comprehend how anyone could dismiss another person’s life for material gain.

Sequence of Events

The incident began when a neighbour alerted Davies to suspicious activity at her business. She discovered items had been stolen from her property.

Davies and Brown located a suspected vehicle – a large white van bearing foreign number plates – near another business previously targeted by criminals. They attempted to intercept the van to apprehend the thieves and recover stolen goods.

Police Investigation

West Mercia Police confirmed a full investigation is underway. They received a report of a robbery on Maesbury Road in Oswestry on Monday and are actively pursuing leads.

Appeal for Information

The police are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in their investigation, including details about the white van and its occupants.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by business owners and the importance of community vigilance.
