A Brampton resident has been charged following a serious hit-and-run collision in Etobicoke that left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred on April 11th near the intersection of Albion Road and Islington Avenue in the Rexdale neighborhood.

Collision Details Emerge

According to Toronto police, the accident happened around 9:23 p.m. on a Saturday evening. A 58-year-old pedestrian was walking on the south side of Albion Road when a red Toyota Corolla traveling westbound lost control. The vehicle veered across lanes, mounted the sidewalk, and struck the pedestrian.

After hitting the pedestrian, the driver continued into a parking lot, colliding with a fence and two parked cars before fleeing the scene. The pedestrian sustained critical injuries and was immediately transported to the hospital. Two passengers in the Corolla also received medical attention for minor injuries.

Driver Identified and Charged

Investigators identified the driver as Suraju Ishau, a 40-year-old man from Brampton. Ishau turned himself in to police at 23 Division on Sunday and was taken into custody. He is now facing multiple charges, including dangerous operation causing bodily harm and leaving the scene of an accident causing bodily harm.
